Anyone may participate. You may make a square for yourself or for someone special to you with IBD. What a great way to honor that special someone in your life with an IBD Quilt Square as a personal gift! Each square must represent an IBD patient. Squares must be PG-13 with a wide audience in mind. Please note that we can accept only one square representing an individual IBD patient.
!! NO SEWING SKILLS REQUIRED !! Design ideas represent individual creativity. In addition to sewing, you may utilize techniques and materials such as: fabric paints, dyes, buttons, permanent markers, stencils, iron-on transfers of photographs and pictures. Craft, sewing or discount stores carry appropriate materials or use items from your home. Please keep in mind while designing your square that the Quilts will travel extensively. Please choose durable fabric and materials. MATERIALS THAT CANNOT BE USED: GLUE, PUFFY PAINT, GLITTER, OR FABRICS WITH ARTIFICIAL SHINE OR THAT ARE SLIPPERY OR STRETCHY. Cut your square to measure 14-in. X 14-in. (metric 35.5cm X 35.5cm). Draw a frame inside your 14-inch square so that you have a 12-in X 12-in canvas block in which to apply your design. The border outside your 12-in X 12-in canvas will be used for constructing the panel. The completed design space on each square must be inside the 12-in. X 12-in. (30.5cm X 30.5cm) canvas - any design that falls outside your 12-in X 12-in (30.5cm X 30.5cm) canvas will be left out of your square. Please do not apply backing to your square - this will be done by our seamstress during construction.
Each square must include the following information:
- NAME of the IBD patient (use of a first name or nickname is allowed, while last name is optional)
- DIAGNOSIS
- DATE OF DIAGNOSIS
- GENERAL LOCATION is a must, while City, State & Country is desired.
We would like to have as much information about the Quilt Square as possible. Please consider using our "Quilt Square Biography" form. If you are making this square as a gift, the information on the form will allow us the opportunity to send a note to the IBD patient on your behalf announcing your gift and will include a picture of the square you made in their honor. Squares become the sole property of IBD Quilt Project, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization benefiting IBD Awareness worldwide for a cure.

To submit completed squares, please use an appropriate sized padded or rigid envelope or mailer. To our dismay, many squares that have been folded & sent in regular correspondence envelopes have arrived mangled by postal machines.
